Biography

Elizaveta DON, née Ivanova, was born in Moscow into a musical family. She started to play the piano at the age of 4 at Yakov Flier Music School in Moscow with N. Dolenko and played her first concert when she was 5. Nowadays she is a prize-winner of 17 international piano competitions and has toured in 35 countries around the globe.

She graduated from Academic Music College of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of O. Mechetina, Diploma with honor), and Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2011 (Diploma with honor), where she studied with Prof. Sergey Dorensky and his assistants Pavel Nersessian, Andrey Pisarev, and Nikolay Lugansky. In 2012 she moved to Hamburg, where she attended Master degree course and, later, Artist Diploma (Konzertexamen) in solo performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Prof. E. Koroliov.

Her extensive concert activity began in 2002 when she became a participant of programs and a scholarship holder of the V. Spivakov International Charity Foundation. Since that time Elizaveta has been performing all over Russia and abroad (among them are Australia, Argentina, Canada, China, India, Japan, Thailand, USA, as well as many European countries). Elizaveta has performed on the stages of famous concert halls, such as: Great, Small and Rakhmaninov halls of Moscow Conservatory, Svetlanov and Chamber halls of Moscow International Performing Arts Centre, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Moscow), Great Hall of the Ukrainian State Philharmonic Society (Kyiv), Chamber Music Hall of Berlin Philharmonic, George Weston Recital Hall of the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Salle Cortot (Paris), National Concert Hall (Dublin), Teatro Ristori (Verona), Laeiszhalle (Hamburg), and others.

Elizaveta Ivanova is a prize winner of numerous international competitions: 1st prize and two Special Prizes at the"Piano Campus" International Piano Competition (Cergy-Pontoise, France, 2011), 1st Prize and Special Prize at the International Piano Competition "Città di Verona" (Verona, Italy, 2012), 2nd Prize and Special Prize at the "Blüthner "Golden Tone" Award" International Piano Competition (Vienna, Austria, 2013),1st Prize at the "Euregio Piano Award" International Piano competition (Geilenkirchen, Germany, 2015), and, recently, 1nd Prize and Special Prize at the "ClaviCologne" International Piano Competition (Cologne, Germany, 2017) and Main Prize and two Special Prizes at the T.Leschetizki Competition for Polish Music (Hamburg, Germany, 2017). She participated in master classes with many famous musicians, such as Fou T'song, Dmirty Bashkirov, Sergey Babayan, Emmanuel Ax, Andrea Bonatta, and others.

In 2012 she also had the honor to present annual 'Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award' in the short movie with piano star Lang Lang.

In 2012 her solo CD was released by 'Piano Campus' (France).

She is a soloist of the Saint Petersburg Music House.

The pianist's repertoire includes compositions since the English virginal music until contemporaneity.

She is also a successful participant of chamber ensembles and collaborated with many famous musicians, among them are winner of XV Tchaikovsky International Competition Narek Hakhnazaryan (cello), winner of the Long-Thibaud Competition Aylen Pritchin (violin), winner of ECHO award Asya Fateyeva (saxophone), clarinet star Julian Milkis.

She also plays harpsichord and has a deep interest in the field of authentic interpretation.

Since 2013 she works as an associate professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

Besides her musical activities, Elizaveta is very interested in fine arts. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and cooking. She speaks Russian, English, German, and Italian. She lives in Hamburg with her husband clarinet player Eduard Don and their three little rabbits.

Die in Moskau in einer musikalischen Familie geborene Elizaveta Don erhielt mit 4 Jahren ihren ersten Klavierunterricht, und mit 5 hat sie schon ihr erstes Konzert gespielt. Heute ist sie Preisträgerin von 17 Klavierwettbewerben und ist in 35 verschiedenen Ländern der Welt aufgetreten.

Sie studierte am Moskauer P.I. Tschaikowsky Konservatorium bei Prof. Sergei Dorensky, wo sie im Juni 2011 ihren Diplomabschluss machte. Danach zog sie nach Deutschland um und studierte in der Klasse von Prof. Evgeni Koroliov an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg (2011-2013 - Masterstudiengang, 2013 - 2017 - Konzertexamen).

Ihre breite Konzerttätigkeit begann im Jahr 2003, als sie Stipendiatin der Vladimir Spivakov Internationalen Karitativen Stiftung wurde. Seitdem konzertierte sie in vielen Städten in Russland sowie im Ausland (in Australien, Argentinien, China, Kanada, Indien, Israel, Japan, Thailand, USA, und in vielen Europäischen Ländern) und tritt in den berühmten Konzertsälen wie Großer Saal des Tschaikowski Konservatoriums in Moskau, Salle Cortot in Paris, Teatro Ristori in Verona, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Kammermusiksaal der Berliner Philharmonie, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, George Weston Recital Hall des Toronto Center for the Arts auf.

Elizaveta wurde mit vielen Stipendien ausgezeichnet. Während ihres Studiums in Russland wurde sie ebenfalls Stipendiatin der Internationalen Karitativen Stiftung "Russian Performance Art" und des Ministeriums für Kultur der Russischen Föderation. In Deutschland wurde sie durch Franz-Wirth-Gedächtnis Stiftung, Otto-Stöterau Stiftung und Yehudi Menuhin "Live Music Now" unterstützt. In 2012 erhielt sie den 1.Preis des Wettbewerbs der Elise-Meyer-Stiftung an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. In 2017-2018 war sie Stipendiatin des internationalen Projekts "Zukunft der Orchesterkultur", das durch Bundesamt für Kultur gefördert wurde.

Elizaveta Don ist Preisträgerin zahlreicher Wettbewerbe, so erhielt sie bereits 2002 den Sonderpreis für die beste Interpretation der Deutschen Romantik beim Steinway Internationalen Wettbewerb für junge Pianisten (Berlin) und den 1. Preis beim T. Nikolayeva Internationalen Wettbewerb für junge Pianisten (Bryansk, Russland). In 2011 folgte ihr erster große internationale Erfolg beim Klavierwettbewerb "Piano Campus" (Frankreich), wo sie den 1. Preis sowie zwei Sonderpreise bekommen hat. Nachdem hat sie an vielen anderen Wettbewerben erfolgreich teilgenommen und zahlreiche Preise bekommen, unter anderen 1. Preis sowie Sonderpreis beim Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb "Città di Verona" (Italien, 2012), Steinway-Förderpreis 2013 (Hamburg, Deutschland), 1. Preis beim "Euregio Piano Award" Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb (Geilenkirchen, Deutschland, 2015), 1.Preis beim "MozArtè" Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb (Aachen, Deutschland, 2016), 1.Preis sowie Sonderpreis beim "ClaviCologne" Internationalen Wettbewerb (Köln, Deutschland, 2017), Hauptpreis sowie zwei Sonderpreise am T.Leschetizki Deutschen Wettbewerb der Polnischer Musik (Hamburg, 2017).

Als leidenschaftliche Kammermusikerin hat sie bereits mit renommierten Solisten musiziert, u.a. mit dem Gewinner des Long-Thibaud Wettbewerbs Aylen Pritchin, Gewinner des Tchaikovsky Wettbewerbs Narek Hakhnazaryan und Echo-Preisträgerin Asya Fateyeva. Elizaveta Dons Repertoire umfasst die frühen Barockwerke bis hin zu zeitgenössischer Musik. Sie hat großes Interesse für historische Aufführungspraxis und spielt ebenfalls Cembalo. In 2012 erschien ihre erste Solo-CD ("Piano Campus"). Seit 2013 unterrichtet sie als Lehrbeauftragte an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

Außer Musik interessiert sich Elizaveta für Literatur und Bildende Kunst. Außerdem sind Reisen und Kochen ihre Leidenschaften. Sie spricht Russisch, Englisch, Deutsch und Italienisch. Sie lebt in Hamburg mit ihrem Mann, Klarinettisten Eduard Don und drei kleinen Kaninchen.
